FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NFMT East Relocates to Charlotte for First Time in 25 Years, Bringing National Facilities Conference to the Queen City
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — March 3, 2026 — For the first time in its 25-year history, the National Facilities Management & Technology (NFMT) East Conference & Expo will relocate from Baltimore to Charlotte, selecting the Queen City as its new host. The event will take place March 10–12, 2026, at the Charlotte Convention Center.
NFMT East is one of the nation’s leading conferences for facility managers, engineers, operations leaders, and solution providers responsible for maintaining and improving the buildings people rely on every day. The move to Charlotte reflects the city’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation, infrastructure investment, and smart building technologies.
“Charlotte really reflects where our industry is headed,” says Wendy Dietzler, director of education for NFMT. “The city’s accessibility, strong business community, and focus on innovation make it a natural fit for the next chapter of this event.”
As the event approaches, NFMT East’s arrival is becoming increasingly visible across Charlotte, reflecting the scale of the national conference and its growing local footprint.
The conference builds on a 25-year legacy, with more than 100,000 facilities professionals having attended NFMT events nationwide over its history.
AI and Professional Sports Take Center Stage
NFMT East 2026 will open with a featured General Session, “Game On: AI, Arenas, and the Future of Facility Operations,” on Tuesday, March 10, from 10:30–11:45 a.m.
The session will feature a conversation between Building Operating Management Editor-in-Chief Dave Lubach and CIO of the Charlotte Hornets Ronnie Bryant, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the Spectrum Center.
The discussion will explore how artificial intelligence is being used at the Hornets’ home arena to enhance fan experience while improving performance across HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, and security systems. Attendees will gain practical insights into how similar technologies can be applied across healthcare, higher education, government, and commercial facilities.
National Event, Local Experience
NFMT East 2026 will feature more than 90 expert-led education sessions, an expansive expo hall showcasing hundreds of products and solutions, and multiple opportunities for professional networking and continuing education.
New for 2026, the conference will introduce the Clean Buildings Pavilion, a dedicated experience on the expo floor focused on cleaning, maintenance, health, and safety in the built environment. The pavilion highlights the essential role cleaning professionals play in supporting safe, sustainable, and high-performing facilities.
Networking events will showcase Charlotte’s culture and innovation, including the Opening Night Reception at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, giving attendees a distinctly local experience while connecting with peers from across the country.
