Partnership: NYC DOE, DEP Team to Save 4 Million Gallons of Water Daily
The NYC Department of Education (DOE) and
the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) partnered to help save approximately 4 million gallons of water per day by retrofitting bathroom fixtures in many of their older schools — and they didn't
even have to stop the school day. DEP then recycled the old bathroom fixtures to create an oyster reef in Jamaica Bay to help improve water quality.
To accomplish this eco-friendly project,
they used Gordian's Job Order
Contracting (JOC) — which helps guarantee projects will be done quickly, on time and within budget.
