Healthcare Facilities Today

WEEKLY ROUND-UP

Brought to you by Critical Facilities Summit

Welcome to the HealthcareFacilitiesToday.com weekly roundup.  Check out the key posts from last week, and hit the ground running on Monday.

Keeping patients comfortable can go a long way toward helping them heal. To that end, an article on the Becker’s Hospital Review website asks (and answers) the question — “Are ICUs too loud?”  Spoiler alert: The answer is probably yes. According to an article on the Healthcare Design website, more questions are being raised by new regulations for the design of patient rooms — when do they become sleeping rooms that require windows?

Of course, when it’s a choice between comfort and safety, safety is going to win. Because of that, according to the Wall Street Journal, many hospitals are banning flowers, balloons and stuffed animals to reduce the risk of infections. And though this subject isn’t comfortable for anyone, an article on the WNCN website describes how healthcare facilities are responding to mass shootings.

On a happier note - Healthcare Facilities Today is more than comfortable to —thrilled, in fact — announce that Brad Keyes, CHSP, will be writing a weekly Q&A column for our website.  Visit healthcarefacilitiestoday.com every Wednesday for Brad's Q&A. His first column answers the question: Are eyewash stations needed in all janitor's closets?

Be sure to come back to HealthcareFacilitiesToday.com every day next week. We’re gathering and sharing the news, insights and advice you need to do your job smarter today, tomorrow and far into the fast-changing future of healthcare facilities.
