Healthcare Facilities Today

WEEKLY ROUND-UP

Cathy Jakicic

Welcome to the HealthcareFacilitiesToday.com weekly roundup. Check out the key posts from last week and hit the ground running on Monday.

This week's posts included articles about the all-important, day-to-day issues facilities managers deal with to keep the patients and staff safe and comfortable.

According to a story on the McKnight's website. some senior living facilities are finding opportunities for increased profits and patient satisfaction with customized laundry operations.  And the FacilityCare website wrote about how consistent cleaning and disinfection protocols create safe patient environment.

Meanwhile, an article on the Nursing Times website discussed how cleaning duties  are not always clear between nurses and the environmental services team.

Hopefully issues like those discussed on the Augusta Chronicle website don't happen every day. The site posted a story about hazards found in a surprising percentage of healthcare facility elevators in Georgia.

And while, the situation is far from funny, our favorite quote of the week can from a story on NJ.com about a Jersey City healthcare facility has 'rampant' rodent problem.

According to one resident:

"These are not mice, these are horses. I mean I've never seen a mouse so big," said Ora Crutcher, 75, who has been receiving physical therapy at Harborview for the past month. "The mice are running rampant. I hear people screaming at night because a mouse surprises them in their sleep."
