Welcome to the HealthcareFacilitiesToday.com weekly roundup. Check out the key posts from last week and hit the ground running on Monday.

The first full work week in 2016 brought much news and information about the challenges of infection control in a healthcare facility.

An article on the Health Facilities Management website described how hospitals are gearing up for tougher infection battles.

The Infection Control Today website offered bad news and good news. MRSA could cost healthcare facilities hundreds of millions of dollars but recent studies have shown that much of the bacteria in water pipes is beneficial.

Not all of it is good, however, and an article on the FacilityCare website reminds facility professionals that the Legionella threats go beyond the cooling towers.

Meanwhile, according to an article on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the mold threat at the UPMC that has claimed the lives of several transplant patients may have been found in a negative pressure room — a room designed to keep dangers contained.
