How to Thank the Team

A few years back, the facilities team at my local elementary school – which is severely understaffed and underfunded – took it upon themselves to come in on their own time and on their own dime to do repairs and needed maintenance at the school over the summer. Teachers at the meeting where I learned this were throwing around ideas on how to properly thank the guys for all the hard work. So I put out a question: What would be an appropriate way for a community to thank an extraordinary facilities team? Check out the comments to see some suggestions from one reader, and post some ideas of your own. How has your team been recognized for the good work it's done?

Drones can provide a lot of benefit for facility managers, from providing an easier way to survey the roof to augmenting security team capabilities. However, establishing a plan for detecting and containing potentially rogue drones should also be part of the conversation, says Mike Anderson, security program manager, Microsoft global security. Sadly, a drone-hunting squad of eagles in the Netherlands has been disbanded, according to IEEE Spectrum, but there are other options. Click through to learn more.
