Speaking Up: What to Say to the C-Suite

Managers who want to build support in the C-suite for their spending requests, staff expansions and long-term plans — which is to say, all managers — need to speak up for their departments. You know that. You may also know that top executives are inundated with information, and only the most relevant and essential information will cut through the clutter. Managers who embrace the communication challenge need to identify a clear, concise message that will make an impact. Click through to discover the three specific topics that corporate executives are most likely to respond to. Are there others you've had success with? Let me know in a comment.

Invest with Confidence in Energy Efficiency

There's no better return on investment than energy efficiency. But facility managers often say they have a hard time finding funds for energy efficiency projects. One initiative trying to change that is the Investor Confidence Project. Through the program, proposed projects would earn an "Investor Ready Energy Efficiency" label. By standardizing the process for performing energy efficiency upgrades, the project hopes to boost investor confidence in a project, and make it easier to fund. According to this Building Operating Management article, "In the future, instead of looking for rebates or applying for individual loans, facility managers may be able to document that they meet the ICP standards and then have access to a large pool of investment funds." Could this be useful? Let me know.
