How Do You Use Window Film?

Responding to an inquiry by a myFacilitiesNet.com reader, another reader said, "We use an 8-mil film for security hardening and for safety over existing wire glass. As we are a K-12 environment, we also use a 4-mil opaque film on classroom sidelights to improve field of vision issues during lockdown drills." Window film can deliver many benefits - shatter resistance, UV filtering, solar heat filtering, privacy, and more - and we're interested in the applications. Why and how do you use window film at your facility? Add your comment or question.

Outdoor Lighting for Safety

The core mission of a health care facility related to patient health, safety and comfort is always a higher priority than improving the building's exterior lighting system. But when employees and visitors started fearing for their safety when approaching and leaving St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif., the owners of the facility recognized the problem: the lighting around the hospital was insufficient. Click through to find out how Dignity Health's engineering department addressed the concerns of occupants and visitors.
