2016: The Year of Building IoT?

As we noted in an article in Building Operating Management, big technology companies are working quietly with existing building products manufacturers to provide the latter with up-to-date hardware and software that can be incorporated into their products. Those partnerships, as well as arrangements with smaller tech firms, are accelerating change in facilities products, making it far easier for FMs to benefit from the Building Internet of Things (IoT). "This doesn't surprise me at all," says one commenter. "2016 has been the year of IoT in my opinion. It's being discussed in more forums than I've seen it being talked about ever before, particularly as we edge closer to 2017." Do you agree? Leave a comment and let us know what you're hearing.

Click through to Part 4 of the article to find out more about this and other evolving legislation, and let us know what steps you are taking to improve security in this area.
